Student Password Reset

Login – CCBC Self Help Forgot Password

Username / Default Password Format(s)

Students

  • Username Format – 9 alpha-numeric characters
  • First 3 letters of last name + last 6 digits of student ID number (if ID starts with 900) or
  • First 2 letters of last name + last 7 digits of student ID number (if ID starts with 901)
  • Default Password Format (if any) – Students will set their own password on their first login using SHWA (https://shwa.ccbcmd.edu)

Employee

  • Username Format – first initial + last name
  • NOTE: Some employee usernames will include a number at the end if there is already a username with their first initial + last name
  • Default Password Format (if any) – Temporary password provided through Administrative Password reset tool when new employees call in for their credentials.

Employee

SIMON/SharePoint/Email Up to 1 week after account is created in Banner (this process is initiated by HR when new hire paperwork is submitted to them for an employee) Contact the help desk at 443-840-4107
Banner Must take Banner Orientation during New Hire Technical Orientation The same as their CCBC username and password.
ARGOS reporting Help desk ticket request to Applications If Oracle account is created, credentials are provided by Applications team.  Users are provided instructions for resetting their oracle password through Banner.

First Time Login / Account Activation

Students
Have the user,

  • Students will be prompted to enter their first name, last name, and two of the following:
  • ID number
  • Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
  • Date of birth
  • HOME Email
  • The retrieval tool will allow them to obtain their username and reset their password.

Faculty/Staff

  • New faculty/staff will need to contact the Help Desk to retrieve their username and acquire a temporary password.  They should be instructed on how to set up their password recovery methods in order to utilize the self help password reset tool in the future.

Self Help User Name Lookup

Have the user,

Students

  • Students will be prompted to enter their first name, last name, and two of the following:
  • ID number
  • Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
  • Date of birth
  • HOME Email
  • The retrieval tool will allow them to obtain their username and reset their password.

Employee

  • No tool available. They will need to contact the help desk to acquire their username information.

Self Help Forgot Password / Reset Tool

Have the user,

Students

  • Students will be prompted to enter their first name, last name, and two of the following:
  • ID number
  • Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
  • Date of birth
  • HOME Email
  • The retrieval tool will allow them to reset their password

Faculty/Staff

  • Faculty/staff need to have completed the registration and security questions through Microsoft’s O365 password reset tool in order to utilize the self-help password reset option.  If they have not done this, then they should follow the instructions for registering and selecting password reset options.

Self-Help Password Change (user knows current password)

Students

  • Students should be directed to login to https://portal.office.com using their current CCBC username (including @email.ccbcmd.edu) and password.
  • Once logged in, they should click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the browser window.
  • They should click on “Password”
  • They will type in their current password and then type in their new password twice.  Click Submit.
  • It may take 5-10 minutes for passwords to sync back to on-premise systems.

Faculty/Staff
